New MegaFab Organization Breaks
New Product Record During First Year

MegaFab, headquartered in Hutchinson, KS, has broken all company records in new product development within the first year of combining Whitney, Piranha and Bertsch brands within one organization.

MegaFab now offers metal fabricators the convenience of multiple machine tool and tooling availability from one manufacturing group without disrupting established distribution channels. Product selection includes combination plasma-punch fabrication centers, press brakes, ironworkers, plate rolls, section rolls, plasma and laser cutting machines, structural punching equipment and tooling.

New Organization, Logo, Website

Launched in October, the new MegaFab website, www.megafab.com, presents each of the three brands – Whitney, Piranha and Bertsch – as part of the organization. It directs visitors to the three individual websites for specific product information. Although associated with the new MegaFab organization and logo, each brand will maintain its own distinct logo and identity, continuing to build on established industry awareness and reputation.

Manufacturing facilities will continue in their current locations – Hutchinson, KS and Rockford, IL. The center of engineering for all MegaFab brands is located at the Whitney facility in Rockford.

MegaFab New Products

Piranha Tooling – engineered to provide long life and optimum hole quality for both standards and specials when used in Piranha ironworkers or other standard ironworkers. Standard punches and dies are in stock and ready to ship same day. Non-stock items ordered by 11 a.m. CST also ship same day.

P-40 Ironworker – Piranha's addition to their well-known ironworker line offers a low cost – under $10,000 – 40 ton model that offers nearly all of the popular features. Standard capabilities include punching, bending, notching, coping, and shearing angle and plate.

ProBEND – reduced set-up time, fewer tools, faster cycle times and a highly accurate, repeatable process give heavy plate fabricators lower cost, higher quality bends with the new Whitney ProBEND press brake developed jointly by Whitney and Piranha. The graphical CNC control visualizes the bend. Operators have total control of approach, pressing and retract speeds, maximizing production time. Y1/Y2 synchronized hydraulic cylinders give repeatable bed parallelism to 0.0004".

PlateLASER FLEX – a literal extension of Whitney's PlateLASER, the new PlateLASER FLEX delivers up to 7000 watts of cutting power plus choice and flexibility in cutting bed length. Machine bed lengths offer flexibility and create capacity to handle large, long parts. A 10' bridge combines with a bed choice of 8', 10', 12', 16' or 20'. Optical repositioning is available on 20' machines to process sheets up to 40' in length.

New Plasma Cutting Option – new Hypertherm HPR260 plasma option is now available on Whitney's ADVANTAGE Precision Plasma Cutting Tables and all models of plasma-punch machines - the 3400 XP, 3700 SST and 4400 MAX. Advantages include improved edge quality, 20% faster cutting speeds and etching capability.

Pneumatic Tap Option – in addition to cutting, punching, forming and marking, the 3400 XP can now tap up 3/4"-10 in 1/2" material, saving fabricator's an additional process and material handling time. Holes reach "drill quality" by using Whitney's TuffSkin™ brand tooling and a punch and shave operation.

Bertsch Video – new Bertsch CD visually highlights design advantages of roll forms built by Bertsch since 1879 including prebend at full capacity. Models are available offering capabilities to form steel from gage through 14" thick.
