Two New Options Enhance Capabilities
Of Whitney's 3400 XP Plasma-Punch Combination
Two new features were introduced for Whitney's 3400 XP, today's most popular model of the plasma-punch combination machine series, during FABTECH International 2005. The HPR260 plasma and a pneumatic tapping attachment are now available as production enhancing options.
Tapping Attachment
The new tapping attachment option saves fabricators drilling and material handling by adding one more process to the cutting, punching, forming and marking capabilities performed in one operation on the 3400 XP.
With the new attachment, the 3400 XP can tap up to 3/4"-10 in 1/2" material (M18 through 12mm). Holes reach "drill quality" by using Whitney's TuffSkin brand tooling and a punch and shave operation.
New Plasma
New high performance plasma cutting, the Hypertherm HPR260, increases cutting speeds by 20% and provides etching capabilities while using the same torch and consumables. The extended consumable life adds to the nearly 50% lower overall costs when compared to other precision plasma processes.
And…improved cut quality provides better holes, more vertical kerf and a narrower kerf width than other systems for both mild steel or stainless.
The tapping attachment and HPR260 are also available on Whitney's larger plasma-punch models, the 3700 SST and the 4400 MAX.
